The Hyundai Veloster: Best Affordable Sports Car of 2019

Have you always wanted a sports car, but couldn't justify the cost or impracticality?

Maybe you should check out the 2019 Hyundai Veloster.

According to Forbes, the Hyundai Veloster is deemed as the best affordable sports car on the market in 2019, with the value being under $30K. The Veloster N is the performance variant of the Veloster Hatchback, which offers all the optimum qualities out of a performance-driven Hyundai. But also provides a large hatch for everyday practicality. How can it get any better?

The 275-horsepower 2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with the six-speed manual can hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, according to Car and Driver. The Veloster N is known for its immense cornering grip, an original steering feel and powerful braking capabilities. Upgrading from the Veloster R-Spec or Turbo models, the N has a larger rear spoiler, louder dual exhaust, 19-inch wheels and front air ducts that cool the brakes.

Essentially, the Veloster N is the first true performance vehicle guided by Hyundai's leading principles: reassuring powertrain; everyday hatch versatility; new car warranty for peace of mind; notable handling capability; and exceptional value that does not compare to other hatchbacks on the market.

The Veloster has been compared to the Volkswagen GTI, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Toyota 86, Subaru WRX, Honda Civic Si and even the BMW M2. According to Forbes, the Veloster N braked with more control than the M2. This says a great deal about the Veloster N, considering the BMW M2 is in line with Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, etc.

Interestingly enough, the Veloster features a three-door car design. One door being on the driver side and two doors on the passenger. As for the interior, the Veloster accommodates any sharp turning by providing ample side bolstering to the seats to keep the driver and passengers planted in place. The Veloster seats up to four people, and the base model comes with cloth upholstery. Leather upholstery and heated front seats are available. There are minimalist controls and gauges, along with an eight-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and even an eight-speaker premium audio system.

Delving into the price, the standard Hyundai Veloster 2.0 starts around $18,500 which is on the more affordable side compared to its competitors. When you start looking into the Hyundai Veloster N and performance packages, the vehicle goes upward towards $26,900. For a sports car, this is relatively cost-effective for all the features included. Comparing to Hyundai's competitors, the Volkswagen GTI, which is the most similar, is valued around $27,595. As for the Mazda MX-5 Miata, which is next on the list, the price circulates around $25,730. The initial price of the 2.0 Veloster is still something you cannot beat.

Now do you believe that the Hyundai Veloster is the best affordable sports car this year?

Simply, Hyundai put their brand to the test by ensuring a vehicle for those who wish for a luxurious and sporty, yet affordable ride. Nonetheless, the Veloster is ultimately a super practical, affordable sports car that can function for everyday needs while delivering a lively driving experience. That's the best of both worlds.
