The electric vehicle market is more crowded than ever, but the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 keeps finding ways to stand out from the pack. With an aggressive new starting price, three powertrain options, ultra-fast charging capability, and a cabin that punches well above its class, the 2026 Ioniq 5 remains one of the most well-rounded electric SUVs you can buy today.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Overview

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a carryover model with small but meaningful revisions. The included charging cable upgrades from Level 1 only to a combined Level 1 and Level 2 unit. Sage Silver Matte joins the color lineup as a new option across all trims, while Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl become available beyond the XRT trim.

The 800-volt architecture, 250-kW fast-charging capability, and 10-year warranty remain unchanged, and together, they represent a stronger package than most competitors can offer. 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 models also retain their pixelated parametric design language and flush door handles. SE and SE Standard Range trims ride on 19-inch alloys, and the Limited AWD steps to 20-inch units. Lastly, the XRT keeps its 18-inch matte-black pixel-themed wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.

Powertrains & Performance

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in three powertrain configurations. Rear-wheel-drive models use a single electric motor producing either 168 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque in the SE Standard Range, or 225 horsepower in all other RWD trims. Opting for all-wheel drive adds a second front motor, boosting output to 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque.

The available battery capacity goes up to 120.6 kWh, with DC fast charging capable of restoring the battery from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes at compatible stations. The 2026 Ioniq 5 can also tow up to 2,700 pounds when properly equipped, adding genuine everyday versatility on top of its electric credentials.

MPGe

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 EPA-estimated range runs from 245 miles on the base SE Standard Range battery up to 318 miles on SE, SEL, and Limited trims with the larger battery pack. The XRT is rated at 259 miles due to its all-terrain tires. For most daily commuters and weekend drivers, the 318-mile ceiling means charging at home overnight is all you’ll ever need.

When you do need a quick top-off on a road trip, the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 NACS charging port provides native access to over 25,000 Tesla Superchargers and 250-kW DC fast-charging capability.

0-60 MPH

The single-motor 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE Standard Range completes the 0-to-60-mph run in around 8.5 seconds, while the single-motor models with the larger battery are roughly a second quicker.

The all-wheel-drive models are significantly more athletic, with a Limited AWD test vehicle clocking the sprint in just 4.6 seconds. AWD models achieve 0 to 60 mph in as little as 4.4 seconds depending on conditions.

A Technology-Filled Interior

Dual 12.3-inch screens form a continuous display arc across the dashboard, with the instrument cluster and touchscreen sharing the same horizontal plane on every 2026 Ioniq 5 trim. Seating material includes stain-resistant cloth on the SE Standard Range and SE, H-Tex leatherette from the SEL upward. Ventilated front seats are reserved for the Limited.

Interior color choices include full black for a more dramatic, sporty feel or a lighter gray theme that keeps the cabin feeling open and airy. The cabin offers great small-item storage courtesy of deep door pockets and a large center console that, on Limited trims, can slide forward or backward. Cargo space stands at 26.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 58.5 cubic feet with them folded, plus a 0.85-cubic-foot front trunk for storing the charging cable and small items.

Technology

Every 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 features an advanced infotainment system with a 12.3-inch color touchscreen. The SEL adds Hyundai Digital Key 2 Premium, while both the XRT and Limited step up to the Bose 8-speaker audio system and Vehicle-to-Load two-way charging. This is notable as it lets the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 power external devices or appliances from its battery. Limited trims go further with a panoramic fixed glass roof, a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and 64-color ambient lighting.

Standard Touchscreen Features:
  • Navigation w/ Live Traffic Updates
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Hyundai’s Blue Link+ Connected Car Services
  • Built-in Wi-Fi Hotspot

Impressive Safety

The SEL adds blind spot intervention, front cross-traffic alert, emergency steering assist, and Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist 2 semi-autonomous driving technology. Buyers who upgrade to the XRT or Limited also get a 360-degree camera system, blind spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automated parking.
