Your favorite SUV is being given a major upgrade for the 2023 model year. The 2023 Hyundai Palisade will feature more advanced tech along with a refreshed interior and exterior to compliment its already impressive powertrain. From day-to-day activities to long roadtrips there is no question that the new Palisade is the ultimate family SUV.

The Mechanicals

The mechanicals of the new 2023 Palisade will remain the same as the previous model year. You can expect to see the powerful 3.8-liter V-6 engine producing 291 horsepower and 362 pound-feet of torque once again, along with the same eight-speed automatic. The Palisade will also continue to be available in front or all-wheel drive.

2023 Hyundai Palisade Performance

Drivers shouldn’t be fooled by the Palisade’s family centered demeanor, the performance of this SUV goes above and beyond that of your typical family car. Reaching 60 mph in just 6.8-6.9 seconds it’s clear the V-6 creates the necessary power for an impressive take-off. The eight-speed has also been noted to shift smoothly and when switched into sport mode drivers have the option to shift more aggressively if they desire. Drivers can additionally expect exceptional control for a vehicle of this size, increased sound deadening, and surprisingly impressive off-roading abilities. To top all of this off, the new Palisade will have a fuel economy of 27 mpg on the highway.

The Exterior

At first glance you’ll notice some distinguishable enhancements to the exterior of this beloved SUV. The 2023 Palisade receives a new front and rear bumper fascia, new headlamps, daytime running lamps, vertical LED tail lamps, an integrated tow hitch, and our personal favorite, a redesigned grille. Additionally, drivers may also notice the auto-dimming exterior mirrors or the two all new alloy wheel designs. The new Palisade will have a more sleek and modern appearance than its previous model years.

The Interior

Drivers will not only appreciate the outside of this sleek SUV, but the inside as well. Hyundai will continue to deliver many of the same luxurious features from the previous Palisade cabin at an affordable price. Drivers will also be pleased to hear that some exciting new features will be introduced in the 2023 Palisade. Upgrades include the Ergo Motion Driver’s Seat which automatically massages your back during long drives to reduce fatigue. These seats tighten the bolstering around your ribs when you enter Sport mode giving you more control when navigating.

Not only will the driver find complete comfort in the Palisade, the back-seat passengers will also enjoy the same level of comfort. The second-row seats will now recline while keeping their accompanying armrests horizontal and be fitted with adjustable wings on the headrests perfect for naptime. The third-row seats also now have the option to be heated in addition to the first two rows. Moreover, Hyundai has upgraded their overall seating materials with the introduction of more premium options such as Nappa leather.

2023 Hyundai Palisade Tech and Safety

The 2023 Palisade will come with a standard 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This advanced SUV will also be the first Hyundai to offer a Wi-Fi hotspot. In addition to this it will feature the most recent version of Hyundai Digital Key. This convenient feature allows owners to use their iPhone, Apple Watch, or Samsung Galaxy to lock, unlock, and start their car just as a key would. Drivers can also find a whopping six USB-C ports and one USB-A port. As well as a wireless charging pad so you’ll never have to worry about devices running out of battery on roadtrips.

Hyundai has upped their safety game with the 2023 Palisade. Parents can have peace of mind knowing their car has all of the protective features it needs. Hyundai has announced that they will no longer be producing new models of the Hyundai Veloster N but use it as inspiration.
  • Hyundai has decided to end production of their luxury car, the Veloster.
  • The Hyundai Veloster was one of the few cars that only had 3 doors.
  • You can purchase a Hyundai Veloster in Tulsa Oklahoma at Tulsa Hyundai while supplies last.

We hate to be the bearer of bad news. After four short years the Hyundai Veloster N is closing its *three* doors. Hyundai has recently announced that there will not be a 2023 model for this sporty hatchback. However its impact is here to stay. The Veloster N’s introduction in 2019 was only the beginning of Hyundai’s prospering line of performance cars. With the Veloster N paving the way, Hyundai has since triumphed in creating several other popular performance cars. Such as the Elantra N and Kona N. However, the Veloster N will be deeply missed. Let’s take a look at what made this the hottest hatch on the market and how it has influenced the new Hyundai models.

Drive Down The Hyundai Veloster Memory Lane

If performance is what you are looking for then the Veloster N is the vehicle for you. It is known as being a six-speed manual-equipped dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Veloster N is an ideal car for the “auto-inclined.” Noisy car lovers are also likely to find the Veloster ideal, with just the click of a button the Veloster enters “N mode”, opening the exhaust and letting loose an array of banging sounds. Although, if quiet cars are more your style, the Veloster N is more than capable of providing silence as well if you stick to its “Normal” mode.

The Exterior

Perhaps the most alluring characteristic of the Veloster N is the external look of this funky machine. Its unique accents and shape make this car immensely distinct from others. The notable size and stature of the two front doors alone are enough to catch the eye of any car-lover. However, one might ask what could be better than two doors? The Veloster N would answer three.

Interior

Let’s not forget about its charming interior. In 2021 Hyundai introduced the light up N in the backrests of its seats, adding even more character to this rather quirky car. You will also be able to find this stylish addition in the 2022 model, in addition to Performance Blue accents such as the seatbelts and the steering wheel drive mode selector buttons. Furthermore, rear seat passengers can expect a likewise pleasurable experience. The Veloster N’s back seat has plenty of room for comfort allowing passengers to kick back and relax on long drives.

Under the Hood

With a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine accompanied by 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque one could see why the Veloster N is considered exceedingly above average from your typical hot hatches. The Veloster N holds the standard for handling performance in front-drive cars as its torque is powerfully distributed all the way to the ground and despite its brisk takeoff drivers can still find complete control with the Veloster’s exceptional standard of handling. A similar handling performance can also be found in other Hyundai models as well, like the Elantra N.

Hyundai Veloster Technology

Car enthusiasts would agree that the versatility of the Hyundai Veloster N remains unmatched. It posseses a “Custom” drive mode its performance can be effectively curated to meet any driver’s needs. Additionally, it’s altered to fit the varying needs of any singular driver on a day-to-day basis. The Veloster N has the capability to provide a quiet and smooth ride. Or, for noise-lovers, you can adjust your exhaust for a rambunctious ride with noises spurring at every shift. One should also keep in mind the satisfying roar from the engine itself, it’s like music to any car-lover’s ears. In sum, the duality of the Veloster can equip drivers with endless possibilities. It can also provide a new and exciting experience every time they step into their vehicle.

Shop at Tulsa Hyundai for Veloster N Inspired Models

Although our time with the Veloster N was short-lived, we loved every second of it and its legacy will continue to live on through Hyundai’s successive N models. And don’t worry, hatchback lovers, Hyundai will continue to sell the 2022 Veloster N through the model year. You will be able to find the new and used 2022 Hyundai Veloster and plenty more cars for sale on our website like our specials, requesting a service appointment, schedule a test drive, visit our finance department, and more! Whether you’re searching for a Hyundai Tucson, Santa Fe, Venue, Kona, Sonata, Elantra, Palisade, Santa Cruz, and/or the Ioniq 6, Tulsa Hyundai has it all. The all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan will be released in 2024 and will be available at Tulsa Hyundai in Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • The first images of the 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 have been released and it has a very futuristic design.
  • The 2024 IONIQ 6 will be a fully electric vehicle.
  • 64 different interior light options will be available on the 2024 IONIQ 6.

Sleek, stylish, futuristic. These are all words that came to mind when Hyundai revealed the first photos of the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6. It follows the largely successful Ioniq 5, an electric SUV that received awards and accolades. Such as the World Car of the Year, the World Car Design of the Year, and the World Electric Vehicle of the Year at the 2022 World Car Awards. This car pays homage to both futuristic and classic car designs. The Ioniq 6 is a very exciting addition to the Hyundai lineup. It has many people excited for the future of electric car production at Hyundai. Let’s take a closer look at what all the Hyundai Ioniq 6 entails.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 Design

The design of the Ioniq 6 is truly impressive. The Hyundai Media Center describes this car as an Electric Streamliner. They say “it is aerodynamically sculpted and makes innovative use of sustainable materials to reflect today’s EV customers’ values”. The Hyundai design team characterized the look of this car in a few different ways. Emotional Efficiency is what Hyundai uses to describe a design that has clean, simple lines and a pure aerodynamic form.

The design team also tried to evoke Ethical Uniqueness in the design of the car with the electrified streamliner technology and mindful cocoon-like interior. Each and every part of the car’s design is intentional. The designers had a specific way they wanted the vehicle to be perceived. “IONIQ 6 connects an emotional convergence of functionality with aesthetics,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center. The car’s usage of sustainable materials and energy efficiency demonstrate Hyundai’s commitment to ethical design practices. The body of the car is painted with bamboo charcoal and reused pigment paint made from end-of-life tires. Emphasizing how this truly is a sustainably made vehicle. That’s what we like to hear!

Hyundai Ioniq 6 Interior

One of the most enticing elements of the Ioniq 6 is the interior. There are many notable features but one that has stood out to many so far is the dual-color ambient lighting, which illuminates the doors and the center console. There will be 64 different colors to choose from, so the driver can have mood lighting for any kind of vibe they’re feeling. The release photos have the car lit up with pinks, purples, and blues that are reminiscent of the 80s, adding to the retro-futurism aesthetic of the car. The interior is made up of eco-friendly materials such as PET fabric, eco-process leather, bio TPO skin, and recycled fishing net carpet. The 12-inch infotainment system is another highlight of this vehicle.

However, physical buttons for audio and climate controls are in the car. This is so drivers don’t worry about looking at a screen and adjusting those things while driving. This was a conscious safety choice from the Hyundai designers. “”The touchscreen is great when this car is [in] stationary condition, but when you’re moving, touchscreens can be dangerous. …For us, anything that relates to safety, we use hardware. Anything not related to safety will use a touch interface. So that’s how we balance that out—that’s how we actually do the hierarchies,” said SangYup Lee, Head of Hyundai Design. The roomy feeling of the interior is aided by the flat floors. They will make you find any excuse to go for a drive. All-in-all, with this car’s interior design, Hyundai has proved once again that they are committed to creating cars that go above and beyond anyone’s expectations.

Tulsa Hyundai

The Hyundai Ioniq 6’s jaw-dropping interior and exterior designs have set a great precedent for the future of the company’s electric vehicles. Hyundai encourages sustainability while designing this vehicle and it paid off, proving that you don’t have to sacrifice aesthetics to be eco-friendly. Though the Ioniq 6 has not hit the market yet, there are tons of other exciting Hyundai models that are available to you today. There is the Ioniq 5 SE if you’re looking for a high quality electric SUV. You could also consider the Elantra SEL if a sleek sedan is more your style.

There’s a Hyundai out there for everyone, and we’d love to help you find your perfect match at Tulsa Hyundai. Hyundai has announced that they will be building a Hyundai EV & Battery Plant in Savannah, Georgia to produce more EV cars
  • Hyundai has finalized plans to open a dedicated EV & battery plant in Savannah, Georgia.
  • This will be a $5.5 billion dollar investment from Hyundai & they plan to produce 300,000 EVs a year.
  • This new plant should create 8,000 new jobs.

The rumors are true, we are bringing Hyundai electric vehicles (EV) to the Peach State! Starting next year we will be breaking ground for the first Hyundai EV & battery plant in the U.S. Currently our manufacturing plant is operating in Ulsan, South Korea. However, we believe that expanding manufacturing to Savannah, Georgia will allow us to become one of the leading electric automobile companies in the U.S. market. We plan to have this 5.5 billion dollar investment up and running by 2025. It will have a capacity for 300,000 EVs a year. This high-tech EV plant represents the future of Hyundai and Georgia. Here at Tulsa Hyundai, we have all the details for you so keep reading!

Georgia and South Korea Hyundai

Like we mentioned earlier, our current manufacturing plant is in South Korea. There are deep ties between Georgia and South Korea and this plant will only make them stronger. Georgia has operated a trade office in South Korea since 1985 and South Korea has a consulate in Atlanta serving the Southeast. South Korea is ranked as Georgia’s fourth largest exporter of goods, so it is only right that we would want to establish a manufacturing plant in a state that works well with our main manufacturing country.

Hyundai EV & Battery Plant Technology

Hyundai is proud to embrace change and drive innovation and we will be able to create the technology to do so. This EV plant will help us meet the expanding demands of our U.S. customers who want leading edge design, safety, and the ability to be eco-friendly. We will manufacture multiple brands and models in our new warehouse also creating a number of EV models under our electric series. We plan to utilize many of our advanced intelligent manufacturing technologies that are currently under test at the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore. The facility will become an intelligent manufacturing plant by using AI and data for all production operations. Guaranteeing sustainability, the plant will mainly rely on renewable energy sources to power the facility and use emission-reduction technologies to meet the RE100 requirements.

Future of Hyundai

Electric vehicles are the future of the automobile industry. This being said, by 2030 we plan EV manufacturing to grow tremendously to 3.2 million EVs a year globally. To achieve this goal we are building and sustaining a network that will ensure EV supply around the globe. This supplier network could further boost the Georgia economy by providing thousands of additional jobs. The pandemic has significantly impacted the supply chain for cars, computer chips, and other vital parts. This has shown us that we must have a strong and sturdy operations system, which having a plant in the U.S. will help secure.

This project will be the largest the state of Georgia has ever seen. The plant will operate on a 3,000 acre site in Bryan County with easy access to 250 major metro areas. It is right outside of Savannah, which is the largest container terminal in the U.S. with the Georgia Central Railway that holds two Class I rail facilities. With the pressure for our country to become more eco-friendly, this project will create 8,000 new jobs for Georgia’s talented workforce and will help further the state’s shift to an eco-friendly economy.

  • The 2022 Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid will fully charge in about 4 hours.
  • The 2022 Santa Fe PHEV will get 33 MPG and have a range of about 440 miles.

Arriving in the United States in 1986, the South Korean Brand, Hyundai, is no stranger to praise and celebration. The recent success of the automaker isn’t a shock to anyone, due to the numerous awards it has won over the years. However, it’s apparent that Hyundai has taken it a step further as of late. Within the past few years, every Hyundai vehicle that’s been released has been a smash-hit– seemingly every new model somehow surpasses the last– and the 2022 Hyundai Santa-Fe Plug-In Hybrid is a part of this phenomenon.

What’s New On The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid

The latest version of the Santa Fe, Hyundai’s mid-size family SUV, underwent its latest makeover in the 2021 model year, so the vehicle is quite modern in terms of style and features. Keep reading to find out the features that the 2022 Santa Fe carried over from the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Charging

According to Hyundai, recharging the Santa Fe Hybrid with a spent battery takes around four hours on a Level 2 240-volt charger. This model has a 3.6-kilowatt onboard charger at 240-volts as well. Because this PHEV has a battery far smaller than anything offered by full EV. There is no DC fast charging offered.

Complete with a good-sized 13.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, the 2022 Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid is good for an electric-only range of 30-miles before the engine turns on– at which point it is rated at 33mpg combined, and 76 mpg-equivalent. This allows a theoretical total range of 440 miles before refueling is needed.

This impressive SUV combines a small, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine producing 178-horsepower with a 90-hp permanent-magnet electric motor. Not to mention an actual geared six-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is not a continuously variable unit, although it is more common for PHEVs. The plug-in hybrid also has HTRAC (Hyundai’s all-wheel-drive system) as standard equipment. The powertrain makes a combined 261 hp. Although the addition of the bigger battery pack does take some room from the interior passenger volume, cargo capacity is not affected in the least.

Driving

The New Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid offers smooth and easy driving in EV mode. Thanks to a meter in the gauge cluster to inform you on how much throttle you can apply and still stay within the requirements of EV mode. Throttle applied too much or too quickly will click the digital gauge to the right. The engine will power on, as the Hybrid will think you need quick speed. However, if the Santa Fe is driven normally, it glides around burning little gasoline.

Although this model is a plug-in hybrid electric, it brings a real sense of normalcy when driving. The engine may not be extremely powerful, but the 2022 Santa Fe stands out in other ways. Perfect for growing families, the SUV is more than enough to get up to the speed of traffic and stay there. The six-speed transmission stands out because you can feel it peacefully shifting as you accelerate. There’s no noise that comes from the movement.

It doesn’t feel like other PHEVs who use a continuously variable automatic and deliver their power in one long, uniform surge. The car also differs from a gas-engine vehicle that switches its pitch each time the transmission shifts. Additionally, the vehicle handles quite easily, despite the extra weight of its electric motor and large battery pack. To sum it up, the 2022 Santa Fe PHEV allows for a comfy, quiet, and smooth ride.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Wins 2022 World Car Of The Year
By Michael Kinney
  • The 2022 World Car Finals were held in New York and Hyundai dominated the awards.
  • The Hyundai IONIQ 5 won several awards including the coveted 2022 World Car Of The Year.
  • Hyundai also unveiled the 2023 Hyundai Palisade.

NEW YORK– The World Car Finals may have to change its name. After the dominance shown by one company during the car of the year awards, it may be better suited to rename it the Hyundai Awards.

Held at the annual New York International Auto Show, the World Car Finals has turned into the Oscars or Grammys for the automobile industry. And the big winner this year was without a doubt Hyundai.

Out of the six award categories that were featured, Hyundai walked away with three honors. That includes the prestigious World Car of the Year with its 2022 All-Electric IONIQ 5.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 – 2022 World Car Of The Year

“Our vision is to enable Progress for Humanity, and this endorsement of our approach will serve to embolden our commitment to make this vision a reality,” said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. “IONIQ 5 represents a pivotal achievement for us as we pioneer a new generation of smart mobility solutions with our innovative E-GMP platform technologies, exceptional performance and disruptive approach to design and space. IONIQ 5 has made a strong impression on increasingly eco-conscious consumers around the world, and its success supports the acceleration of electrification of the automotive industry. The pace of change at Hyundai will continue unabated through the rest of 2022 as we will soon be adding to our award-winning IONIQ range.”

The IONIQ5 beat out the Ford Mustang Mach E and the KIA EV6 to take home the top award. It was recognized by a jury of 102 automotive journalists from 33 countries around the world.

The innovative battery electric vehicle (BEV), was a major reason for the car’s success.

The World Car Finals Gave More Awards For The IONIQ 5

The IONIQ 5 also grabbed the World Car Design of the Year and the first-ever World Electric Car of the Year.

“It is a great honor for us. It means a lot to the entire Hyundai motor family. I’d like to say thank you to everyone on behalf of us at Hyundai,” Chang said. “For Hyundai, this is just one step in a long journey to provide more solutions for more people, in more places. We look forward to bringing more to market. Including more brands to the future. I’m confident our team will continue to deliver more designs and deliver sustained solutions and services.”

It should not have been a surprise that Hyundai would have such a banner day. Earlier in the program, Luc Donckerwolke, Hyundai Motor Group’s Executive Vice President for Design and Chief Creative Officer was named the 2022 World Car Person of the Year by The World Car Awards jury panel representing 102 journalists from 33 countries.

Donckerwolke was chosen by the jury since he has held design responsibility for a number of highly innovative new models, including the Hyundai IONIQ5, Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6, which were launched over the past year. All three automobiles were a finalist in at least one of the World Car categories this year.

“Imagine giving your kids a prize because he plays with his toys,” Donckerwolke said. “Well, this is how I feel. I’m just a tree hiding in the forest, meaning my great design team. There are good designers everywhere. What makes a difference is management that trusts and empowers the design. This is why I am so grateful to work with a group that trusts us.”

The 2023 Palisade Was Also Unveiled

While it was a day to celebrate 2022, Hyundai officials were looking ahead to the future. They unveiled the 2023 Palisade SUV. The new Palisade still has a 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque.  Customers notice right away the taller and wider grille. It blends meaninglessly with the upper daytime running lights on the newly designed Palisade. Designers also added a new trim level, which they are calling the XRT. It has black roof rails and dark alloy wheels to give it a serious look. As do the 20-inch wheels. It also includes black faun leather, a sunroof, and a wider center screen (12-inches across, with 720p resolution).

For those who like to show off, the automobile moves frontward and backward just using the key fob—while standing outside. Because of its size, this technology allows it to get in and out of cramped spaces a little easier.  “The design of the 2023 Palisade conveys dignified refinement with clear differentiation worthy of a flagship SUV.” Hyundai spokesman stated. “A wider cascading grille form outlines rugged parametric shield elements for a premium appearance. The new forward lighting signature features vertically connected LED composite lights that frame the grille creating a sharp-edged, technical appeal. New, multi-spoke alloy wheels fill the wheel openings for a solid, premium appearance.”

The 2023 Palisade is to go on sale this summer. A price is not known as of yet. Whether you’re searching for a Hyundai Tucson, Santa Fe, Venue, Kona, Sonata, Elantra, Palisade, Santa Cruz, and/or the Ioniq 6, Tulsa Hyundai has it all. See you soon!

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE In Tulsa
  • The newest EV from Hyundai is the IONIQ 5 SE and it will be released in America in the Spring of 2022
  • The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 SE ranks in the top 10 EVs for overall efficiency.
  • The battery charging on the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 SE is really fast charging a battery back up to 80% in only 18 minutes.

The 2022 Ioniq 5 SE is not Hyundai’s first electric car, and it surely will not be its last. In 2019, Hyundai released the Kona Electric and it impressed the world. The model was praised and rose to the top of the best EV lists. With the release of the 2022 Ioniq 5 SE, Hyundai is here to prove that their first electric car was not by chance. They hope to be one of the top EV producers in the game.

Although Hyundai finds its niche amongst bargain hunters, the automaker moves into premium territory with the Ioniq 5. They will prove to be a fierce competitor in the electric crossover market.

Scheduled to hit American markets this spring, the 2022 Ioniq 5 SE is already impressing regions where it has been launched, including South Korea, Europe and Australia. So, now that we’ve got introductions out of the way, let’s dive into the features of the model and see why Hyundai’s EVs are among the highest ranks.

Exterior & Interior

The 2022 Electric Hyundai is the perfect mix of past and present– melding the classic style of small SUV crossovers with a more modern appearance. The exterior is stylish and polished, infusing sharp lines and a well-balanced chassis to the box-shaped SUV. The interior of the vehicle, too, is impressive: combining luxury with usability through the implementation of a sliding center console, expansive wheelbase and flat floor.

Electrical Efficiency

Hyundai generated early production versions of the Ioniq 5 Limited available for a nearly 175-mile test drive through the mountains of San Diego County in 2021. The test drive encompassed a fast-charge demonstration in a shopping mall adjacent to the U.S.-Mexico border.

When judging efficiency, this Hyundai EV was measured for 256 miles of range. That leaves 65 miles of range remaining at the end of the drive– indicating that only about 16 miles of range were lost to hill climbing and lead-footed driving. Nevertheless, the Ioniq 5 crossover was ranked among the top 10 EVs for overall efficiency by the EPA.

Additionally, the EV houses a four-level, regenerative braking system which regenerates energy as the model slows down. The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE also has an “i-Pedal” setting which allows the system enough power to completely stop the vehicle without touching the brakes.

This feature is enormously useful in mountain driving and stop-and-go traffic, as it mimics downshifting in a gas vehicle.

Power & Performance Of The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE

The Ioniq 5 SE’s skateboard design places the batteries under the vehicle’s floor and between the axles. This makes for a low, road-hugging center of gravity, fashioning a well-balanced ride. This is thanks to the EV-specific modular platform.

Throughout the test drive, the Hyundai EV drove Southern California freeways, urban streets, and twisting country roads. The model even faced a 5,000-foot mountain – both up and down. Overall, the vehicle is powerful, comfortable and very roomy, with great visibility and ample handling.

The 2022 crossover’s 320-horsepower dual motor, all-wheel drive powertrain – which is available in all three trims – shows just how fast this SUV really is. Only inadequate for race car drivers, this model claims a time of 5.1 seconds for a zero-to-60-mph.

The Ioniq 5 faces various roads and freeways with ease. It has a sporty handling and comfortable ride quality. The vehicle offers three different modes – sport mode, eco mode, and normal mode. Sport mode adjusts the accelerator and steering for top-level responsiveness, promoting tight and responsive steering. The eco mode slows everything down, even climate settings, to conserve battery power. And finally, normal mode is just as it sounds: normal driving. All three of the AWD modes employ an energy-saving heat pump instead of an electric heater for cabin conditioning.

Range, Battery and Charging

Possessing a competitive range of up to 303 miles, all trim levels of the Ioniq 5 SE boast a package of advanced safety and driver assist features, top of the industry charging speed, and powerful all-wheel drive options.

While the industry standard for charging is 400-volts, the Hyundai Electric houses an 800-volt electrical architecture. Proving the model can handle ultra fast recharging on road trips. While other 800-volt EVs will continue production, most find home in the super-premium and luxury range. In fact, the only other EV that offers 800-volt charging today is the Porsche Taycan.

The Hyundai EV’s 250-kilowatt DC fast-charger can recharge a 90 percent battery back up to 80 percent in 18 minutes. It easily surpasses the common 150-kilowatt charger. That of which can perform the same recharge to a 90 percent depleted battery in 25 minutes.

The 2022 Ioniq 5 SE’s standard 11 kilowatt Level 2, 240-volt onboard charges the car in about six hours and 45 minutes.

2022 Best Cars for the Money Awards

What are they?

Considered to be an expert in rankings and consumer reports– globally, I might add– U.S. News Best Cars has published rankings of the majority of new vehicles sold in America since 2007. With the goal of putting out rankings that “empower citizens, consumers, business leaders and policy officials to make better, more informed decisions about important issues affecting their lives”, U.S. News assists more than 40 million people per month for answers and guidance.

The Best Cars for the Money Awards shine light on cars, SUVs and minivans which perfectly fuse long-term value and excellent ownership experience. According to Jim Sharifi, the managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars, “A Best Cars for the Money award represents a strong value at the dealership and over the course of ownership. These vehicles also provide a rewarding ownership experience, with comfort, features and performance that buyers will appreciate.” The Best Cars awards include: Best Vehicle Brands, Best Cars for the Money and Best Cars for Families.

How are the Best Cars For The Money awards chosen?

For each category, the victor car has the best combination of quality and value. By using a car’s score in the U.S. News Best Car Ranking, U.S. News measured quality. Scores in the rankings are based on safety and reliability data, the shared opinion of the automotive press on a given vehicle’s performance and interior, and how strongly each reviewer recommends it. The value of a vehicle is measured by checking its real-time transaction prices (given by TrueCar), and the five-year total cost of ownership data (determined by Vincentric).

Hyundai’s Success

In the rankings, Hyundai won more than any other car brand with five awards. Honda came in second with three, while Kia, Nissan and Toyota each collected one award. Three of Hyundai’s models racked in their second award (Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Tucson) while two of their vehicles earned the award for the very first time (Hyundai Elantra Hybrid and Hyundai Tucson Hybrid). Hyundai, the star of the show, shone the brightest in the SUV category, but also acquired success in the car category as well. The awards are as follows:

Best Cars for the Money

  • Hyundai Elantra Hybrid: Best Hybrid or Electric Car for the Money
  • Nissan Versa: Best Subcompact Car for the Money
  • Honda Civic: Best Compact Car for the Money
  • Honda Accord: Best Midsize Car for the Money
  • Toyota Avalon: Best Large Car for the Money
